Wide Open Walls returns to Sacramento in 2021 for its sixth season, bringing larger-than-life murals to California's capital.

Since its inception in 2016, Wide Open Walls has brought over 150 works of permanent art to Sacramento. Mural subjects range from famous faces -- like Johnny Cash, Barack Obama, Martin Luther King Jr., Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Mr. T -- as well as abstract murals bursting with color, nature and animal scenes, and even a grinning psychedelic Cheshire Cat.

Wide Open Walls Festival: Sept 9 - 19, 2021

The 2021 Festival includes self-guided tours and events throughout the week. The festival began with the grand opening of Sacramento's new street art museum, "A Space In Between," which included a 9-11 memorial mural from artist Martha Cooper.

Some festival events are ticketed and will have COVID-restrictions in place (proof of vaccination or negative COVID test within the last 72 hours), while other events are free and require no COVID-restrictions. Visit the Events page for more information.

Self-Guided Tours

2021 Wide Open Wall’s Festival is offering self-guided tours again this year as a safety precaution during COVID. You can use the interactive map on the Wide Open Walls site to plan your tour of your favorite murals from this year and year’s past. 130 works are available for self-tour.
