Construction crews have been busy at the Railyards, and are currently working on a much-anticipated residential housing project, the AJ. Crews have been hard at work on the AJ since Autumn of 2020, and the project has begun to grow into what will one day be a welcoming, modern community. As we close out 2021 and look forward to 2022, here’s a brief look at construction progress at the Railyards.

What is the AJ?

The AJ is a mixed-use, multi-family residential housing project at the Railyards. When complete, the AJ will offer 345 residential units, 69 of which will be affordable housing. The AJ will also include 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

Designed to help meet Sacramento’s need for multi-family housing with modern amenities and affordable options, The AJ will include a mix of studio, one, and two-bedroom units. Residents will also enjoy access to a fitness center, pool and spa, dog wash, and rooftop sky lounge.

What's New at the AJ?

Construction crews broke ground on the AJ in August 2020, and have made steady progress since then. Visitors to the Railyards in recent months may have noticed the growing figure of the residential building itself and a nearby parking garage. 

This parking garage is currently near completion, and will one day serve residents of the AJ and visitors to the Railyards.
Crews are also working on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work on floors 2 through 5 of the residential building. Work on the roof is also underway.

Construction is expected to finish in Winter 2022, so future residents of the AJ can look forward to learning more about this incredible project as it prepares to welcome community members.
