The Wong Center Welcomes Applicants for Affordable Senior Housing

An exciting new residential project is gearing up to open its doors at The Railyards. The Wong Center accepted waitlist applications in late December and early January to live in this affordable, 55+ community located conveniently in Downtown Sacramento. Bringing Affordable Senior Housing to The Railyards

The Wong Center is bringing new affordable housing to Sacramento for seniors aged 55 and over. The application period for these one and two-bedroom apartments occurred between December 15 and January 14.

This residential project was developed by Mutual Housing California, with Sunseri Construction Inc. as the general contractor. The Wong Center Association, Mutual Housing California, LDK Ventures, Council Member Jeff Harris, and Mayor Steinberg first broke ground on the project in June 2022.

"The Wong Center has been a dream of ours for many years," stated a representative for the Wong family. "Long ago, my parents taught us that the younger generation needs to take care of the older generation. That's one thing we've never forgotten. Caring for our seniors in our community is an obligation that the Wong Center cares about, and ensuring that the aging population can live in dignity in a safe environment."

To be eligible for the waitlist lottery and make the Wong Center your new home, the members of your household must be over 55 years old, and your household must be eligible for the your household must be eligible for the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program. Rent varies depending on the apartment in question, income, and availability. Eligible households must be over 55 years old.

Life at The Wong Center

Residents of The Wong Center, located in the historic Railyards, will enjoy life in a sustainable community designed for comfort and easy access to all of Downtown Sacramento's most exciting amenities.

Those who call the Wong Center home will enjoy one of the community's 150 affordable one or two-bedroom units. Each unit is cable-ready and comfortably fitted with efficient appliances, window coverings, and other features.

The center is gated and offers off-street parking, on-site maintenance and management, and a wheelchair-accessible facility for convenience and safety. Residents will enjoy on-site services, community programs, and proximity to public transit.

The Wong Center also includes 4,000 square feet of community space and outdoor community areas with a dog park and garden plots. Stay active with a game at the bocce ball court, stroll through the dog park, or have your family over to enjoy the picnic and barbecue area. The community is also convenient to Sacramento's downtown core.

The Wong Center is the second affordable housing project at The Railyards. The AJ, a mixed-use residential project, broke ground in 2020. Residential projects like these, alongside the courthouse, retail space, the Kaiser hospital, and more, will transform The Railyards and Downtown Sacramento.
