Sacramento's newest light rail station opened at 7th and Railyards. Here’s what passengers traveling to the Railyards need to know.

A new light rail station is ready to welcome passengers to the Railyards. The new Green Line station opened at 7th Street and Railyards Boulevard on October 15th, 2026. Visitors who step off the light rail will enjoy easy access to the soccer stadium, residential neighborhoods, entertainment, retail, and more.

Where Is the Station Located in the Railyards?

At 7th Street and Railyards Boulevard, the new light rail station offers immediate access to the AJ and other residential areas on one side of the street and to the future site of the Republic FC Stadium on the other.

Whether they’re attending a game at the stadium or shopping and dining in the historic Central Shops District, passengers traveling to the 7th and Railyards station will find themselves standing at the intersection of the Railyards’ history and future.

As the Railyards continues to grow, the station will offer access to:

Taking the Green Line to and From the Railyards

The new light rail station is part of the Green Line, which offers service between the 7th & Richards/Township 9 station in the River District and 13th Street. Eventually, SacRT plans to extend the route out to the Sacramento International Airport.

The Green Line operates Monday through Friday, roughly 6 AM to 8:30 PM, with trains about every 30 minutes.

The new station won’t just welcome soccer fans and concertgoers to the Railyards. It also gives people who live and work in the area easy access to Downtown Sacramento and beyond. Other stops along the Green Line include:

  • The River District
  • Capitol Mall
  • Downtown Sacramento and the Golden 1 Center
  • The California Museum and Archives Plaza

A Community Built Around Convenient, Sustainable Transportation

The station is central to the Railyards’ vision for a community designed to create easier commutes, whether by cycling, walking, or catching a train from the Sacramento Valley Station.

“Our vision for the Railyards is a community where people can live, work, and visit with a range of transportation options,” said Josh Leachman, Senior VP of Project Development at LDK Ventures.

The light rail station will connect to a host of other sustainable transportation options at the Railyards, including:

  • Walkable pathways throughout the area, connecting pedestrians to the central shops, the stadium, the Sacramento Valley Station, and more
  • An extensive network of cycling paths and areas to park your bike
  • The Sacramento Valley Station, offering convenient access to the Bay Area via the Capitol Corridor Amtrak Train

“The opening of 7th & Railyards Station ensures people can access this growing neighborhood by light rail, whether they’re commuting to work, visiting a museum, attending a concert, or cheering on Republic FC. Connecting these destinations to public transit is an important part of building a vibrant, accessible, and economically thriving city,” said Sacramento Mayor Kevin McCarty.
